We've just launched the new Project Carpe Diem website, full of the reportages from last summers trip to South America. Under "Projects" you can also read about our new plans for 2011.
Enjoy!
Cheers!

Now we're doing a huge redesign of the website, and will be back in early 2010 with presentations and stories from our work in South America this summer.
During the trip last summer we followed the work of the US organisation Rainforest Partnership. Now, through the 1% for the Planet Foundation, RP has been acknowledged as a worthy non-profit! Check it out here. They are a leading example of how people can contribute to the planet, which our documentary will show you proof of.
Look back in early 2010, for the first stories from the Amazon as well as for the next stage in the project and for the new trips to follow.

Though a bit of sickness and a total lack of internet access resulted in no blog posts at all towards the end of the trip! This will be corrected in the coming weeks.
I've started post-processing the images; magazine articles are in the making. As the work progresses, I'll post sample images and funny diary posts as they are processed; the trip was a success in means of material gathered. There's tons of stuff just waiting to be seen.

We're just back in Lima - and leaving for Sweden later today.
We've had wonderful and interesting days in Chipaota and the Peruvian Amazon. Loads of pictures and stories as promised, but blog posts are very delayed because of no connections in the forest.
As soon as we're back in Sweden, I'll post all the blog entries and pictures from the days in Peru; check the site in a week and you can read them all.
We´re lodged outside Tarapoto, Peru, at the moment. View from the lodge is breathtaking. We´ve met up with P´s representative Lucia; she´s an incredible help in understanding the region, the people and the language.
Today is about getting supplies; tomorrow we leave for the village of Chipaota in this area - the northern part of the Peruvian Amazon.
Keep an eye on the Twitter, if anything - we´ll probably be out of all connections for the coming week.
Cheers!

In a couple of hours we leave Quito behind; going to Lima, and later to the Peruvian Amazon and the village of Chipaota.
I have no idea about internet connections when we get there; probably limited if any at all.
Keep an eye on the Twitter!]]>

Speckled Hummingbird(Adelomyia melanogenys)
During the trip we are also working on capturing the rainforest flora and fauna; understanding what there is to save makes motivation easier. We want people to see the diversity of these places - and to be amazed enough by it to realize what needs to be done.
These pictures are just fly-by shots taken while we're on the go; some turned out really good. The above hummingbird was shot at Jane's reserve in Mindo, and the Caiman lizard in Sani Isla.

Alfred Last but not least, the guy who's belly decided that it didn't want to keep up in the owners tempo anymore, and therefore put up a huge fight on the second day of the trip to Sani Isla - Alfred Runow!]]>http://www.projectcarpediem.se/blog/index.php?entry=entry090801-2123352009-08-01T00:00:00Z2009-08-01T00:00:00ZMindo; getting a feel for the cloud forest We also went to the Reserva Las Gralarias; run by Jane, an american ornothologist. It's a birding lodge; run with the idea of tourism financing conservation. Interesting concept; one that really works out. People, mainly birders and froggers, come here from all over the world to see the Ecuadorian specialties. We spent the day photographing kolibris, pouring over maps and breathing the crisp mountain air. ]]>http://www.projectcarpediem.se/blog/index.php?entry=entry090801-1910172009-08-01T00:00:00Z2009-08-01T00:00:00Z
